The Turrell Fund is proud to highlight one of the 2025 Landon Award winners: Rutland County Parent Child Center!

What is the Rutland County Parent Child Center?

The Rutland County Parent Child Center (RCPCC) is a community-based organization focused on providing resources, education, and support to both rural and urban families.

RCPCC uses a comprehensive, 2Gen Whole Family Approach – providing children with high-quality programming while also equipping families with resources to remove barriers.

Recognizing the importance of play, RCPCC offers accessible, inclusive, and developmentally enriching playgroups for caregivers and children.

Rutland County Parent Child Center’s Work

RCPCC’s playgroups allow children to engage in story time, creative play, hands-on project, and other activities to build their cognitive, social, and emotional skills.

The playgroups promote school readiness with a focus on socialization, early literacy, creative play, and fine motor skill development.

To reach more rural families, RCPCC will be launching Playground Drop-In Groups in Summer 2025, a mobile, community-based extension of its programming.

These drop-in sessions will also feature on-site developmental screenings and food access education.

RCPCC also recognizes the need for programming to support fathers, launching the Fatherhood Friday Playgroup with Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum.

Fathers and children will be able to gather on a monthly basis for dinner as well as engaging activities to support strong, positive parenting relationships.

How the Rutland County Parent Child Center Prioritizes Collaboration

RCPCC incorporates collaboration within its programming to expand its reach, as well as to support families.

RCPCC partners with local museums, healthcare providers, food banks, schools, and other family agencies.

Additionally, RCPCC’s playgroup provider is trained in trauma-informed care and provides families with referrals and other wraparound services.
